F I S H I N G R E P O R T S:
Tawakoni Saturday October 9, 2004
Today was a little iffy with the wind and rain, but my friends Steve, his wife Kay and Steve’s father Bruce decided since they had driven all the way from Waco WE WERE GOING TO GO FISHING!
Those of you who know the saga of my boat last year know that Steve (aka sbmcruise on the TFF) helped me out last fall by not only letting me use his boat on a trip, but also deck handed for me that day. Well I told him when I was back up and running I would gladly take him and whoever else he wanted out for a day.
The wind was fairly high as we started out so I decided to head across the lake to Tallman. When we got there the birds were already working with some fish surfacing. We caught quite a few fish on Rainbo Shad slabs including one Hybrid and one Striper with some smaller throwbacks and lots of White Bass. Bruce wanted some for the freezer so we kept only the larger White Bass and the Striper and Hybrid.
The action slowed there so we moved on over to Sun Point, then the wind died some so I decided to go back across to Wolf Cove. The birds were working here again and we caught another two Hybrids and lost two more right at the boat. Lots and I mean lots of White Bass with one Yellow Bass over a pound.
All in all, a fun day with my friends Steve, Kay and Bruce. I look forward to another day with them on the water, I even got an invitation to Tradinghouse someday!
The Conditions: Wet & windy, the water was slightly stained and the temperature was in the low to mid 70’s. Most of the fish were shallow, fifteen to twenty feet deep and all on slabs. We tried trolling in several areas with no success, even though fish were all over the graph. Time to bring out the binoculars and watch for the birds. With the wind it is also a good time to practice going up wind and drifting into the fish.
E-mail me if I can be of any use or help to you in anyway.
