Today was almost a repeat of Saturday. I had the sons of the "Biggest Green Thing" from a St. Patricks' Day contest put on by the morning show at 95.9 "The Ranch"s' - Harmon & Heywood. Sarah Cloutier won the trip with a green Labrador Retriever and I took her sons Nathan and Nicholas out. The rain didn't have any lightning in it today so we went ahead and got an early start. We tried the rip-rap for awhile with no success and then I decided to go ahead and go back to the Wolf Cove humps. When we got there the birds were already working and all you had to do was get a Rainbo Shad slab near the water and they were all over it. I was very picky about the size fish we kept today and we wound up with a 50 fish limit with nothing less than 14" and some close to 17". I threw back every fish I caught to make sure that they caught "their" limit.
The fish were in just about every depth but the schools, when they weren't chasing shad seemed to be holding on the drop offs in around 19-25 feet of water. We also caught several nice sized Yellow Bass and one Blue Cat around 4-1/2 pounds. After lunch it seemed the bite was pretty well over for the day. As I said, the live bait fishermen did well this afternoon around Tall Mans' Reach. Contact me if I can help any of you get on some of this great action!
E-mail me if I can be of any use or help to you in anyway.
