Tawakoni, March 25, 2007
This was my third trip with Fred Schmelling and he always brings me someone new to fish with and pick on! This time he had repeat Lee and newbie, Jamieson.
We got a little late start because the breakfast at Shoestring Farms B&B was just too good to walk away from. We ran over to the area near the dam that had been producing so well for us only to find the fish pretty much gone. A few Sand Bass, 1 small Hybrid and 1 keeper were all we were able to catch.
I moved us and I was sure glad. We got into a good school of fish off of Sun Point and proceeded to catch 20 Hybrids and 3 Stripers and lots of Magnum Sand Bass. We released all the Stripers to try and help get the numbers up. The fish stayed in the area and active for several hours and it was a lot of fun. When I stopped marking the big school and since we already their limits of Hybrids we went looking for the Sand Bass.
Went to all the usual spots and finally found a big school of cooperative fish and caught over a hundred more in that one spot out from Rabbit Cove.
The water was actually pretty clear for Tawakoni and it was in the high 50’s to low 60’s in temperature. The lake is still very low so be careful in areas you don’t know. Holiday is very much usable at this time. The fish were again caught on Bass Pro Shops Laser Eye Jug Heads and Holiday Bait Sassy Shads when they were moving. Once we started jigging we caught fish on Lead Babies Slabs in the PeeWee and Long Minnow versions in Texoma and Irish Special color.
We have openings so call today to book a trip!
E-mail me if I can be of any use or help to you in anyway.
