Lake Tawakoni, St. Patrick's Day,
March 17, 2008
I launched at Holiday Marina and picked up my clients form the dock at the State Park. We got an early start so we could be in place as the sun came up and as it turned out it was well worth it!
We headed up the lake to the area around the dam and the first cast of the day produced a nice fat Hybrid. The next several hors were a lot of fun and we caught another 13 Hybrids and 2 Stripers between 5 and 7 pounds. These fish were caught on Phantom Tackle Sassy Shads and Bass Pro Shops Tournament Series 5” flukes. Both baits were fished on Bass Pro Shops XPS Laser Eye jig heads. A slow steady retrieve was the ticket, but the strike is very light.
When that bite slowed we tried several other spots before finding working birds in White Deer Reach. We finished the day with there catching 20 White Bass on Lead Babies Slabs and on the Sassy Shads.
Another successful Saint Patrick’s Day for Luck O’ The Irish!
